Setting
The story of STAR★SIGNS is set in the city of Hyperion, located within an unspecified nation to encourage a plethora of nationalities and cultures. A map of Hyperion can be found HERE. Individual districts can be claimed by organizations. What follows is a breakdown of those various districts, as well as the jobs, housing, and environment found within.
district one housing available: high-priced suites, government housing jobs available: government officials, corporate positions, consultants, secretaries, etc. controlled by: aegis. The heart of the city. Houses the city's government as well as numerous corporations. Always busy and bustling. Home to the Crux Park. |
district two housing available: moderately-priced apartments and hotels jobs available: small businesses, law firms, art galleries, etc. controlled by: castle. Chic boutiques, small firms, and similar businesses have set up in the buildings closest to District One. The area is well-lit and free of debris; the major streets are often crowded with tourists. |
district three housing available: moderately-priced apartments and townhouses jobs available: grocers, flower shop employees, stylists, clerks, etc. controlled by: no one. A district known for its pleasant atmosphere, with two small, unnamed parks. Popular with young families. Coffee shops seem to sit on every corner. |
district four housing available: single-room apartments, townhouses, small houses jobs available: small businesses, fast food, education, etc. controlled by: no one. Situated on the outskirts of the center of the city, this district is home to many young adults. While it comes across as studious during the day, numerous bars and clubs come alive at night. |
district five housing available: shrines, houses, school dorms jobs available: shrines, temples, landscaping, architecture, education, etc. controlled by: nostra. Civilization and nature dwell in harmony here. Spiritual sites are common, and most of the festivals are held within this district. Several schools and the city's university are also located here. |
district six housing available: Houseboats, cheap apartments, hostels jobs available: fishing, dock work, food prep, storage, etc. controlled by: no one. Located on the Musica Bay, this district is well-known for its reasonably-priced seafood. Cheap goods are received and stored in the warehouses that line the water. |
district seven housing available: houseboats, apartments, share-housing jobs available: trade, shipping and receiving, dock work, guard work, etc. controlled by: no one. This district handles the shipping and receiving of goods, typically dealing with higher-quality goods than its neighboring district. Its warehouses are larger, more brightly painted, and often guarded by nightwatchmen. It has an amusement park named Cosmo World situated beside the bay. |
district eight housing available: cheap apartments, houses, and hostels jobs available: low-paying; small businesses, clerks, fast food, grocers, etc. controlled by: no one. This district has a reputation for being rough, as it is considered the bulwark that separates the rest of the city from the ruined districts. Because of this, the population has forged a strong sense of community and regards outsiders with wariness. |
district nine housing available: apartments and houses jobs available: small businesses, part-time, etc. controlled by: no one. Considered by many to be the residential district, this area houses the majority of the city's citizens. Small shops are nestled between houses and apartment complexes. A marketplace is set up in one of the open fields every Sunday. |
district ten housing available: share-housing, cheap apartments, squatting jobs available: minimum-wage work, construction, illegal work, etc. controlled by: no one. Looked upon as the slums of the city, this massive area was the last of the city's districts to receive financial support. Those who still live here eke out a meager existence or try to help the friends and family trapped by destitution. |
district eleven housing available: squatting jobs available: illegal work controlled by: no one. Only Gifted and those they provide for willingly live here. The city's government turns a blind eye upon them to maintain an uneasy peace. Most of the buildings are in various states of ruin. |
district twelve housing available: none jobs available: none controlled by: government. Currently in the middle of reconstruction, the area is under heavy watch by the city's government. Many of the ruined buildings have been leveled, leaving behind only rubble. The city's trash heap is located here, and people regularly dump their scraps and junk here. |
district thirteen housing available: squatting jobs available: none controlled by: no one. A Gifted's power left this district constantly on fire. A barrier has been built around the district to contain the flames, but it doesn't keep people out. |
