Amidst the rubble of a war not long past, the stars seek to raise a new generation. Blessed with celestial powers that have begun to make their reappearance, the Gifted are individuals whose shoulders the future of the city rests on. Will you overthrow the dysfunctional government or work to keep it in power? Or will you undermine the whole game and play to your own advantage? No matter your motives, Hyperion is yours to shape.
Once a week, development prompts will be offered to the community as a way to further develop your character and also learn about other players' characters. These prompts can take the form of questions, images, songs, etc.. Feel free to either respond to this thread directly with your answer or keep an ongoing thread of your character's responses. This week's prompt is:
Horoscopes are for suckers and scammers. To Micaiah, the world isn't so easily unraveled through the alignment of stars and the movement of planets. He prefers a realist's approach, both feet on the ground and head firmly below the clouds.
He does, however, believe that there are good people who believe in horoscopes - and that makes them dangerous. A few words spat out daily can so easily sway a large minority of the populace to change minute details about themselves in order to achieve some grand destiny laid out by the cosmos. That, he believes, is a dangerous thing; people who are so easily led by pretty fluff must be weak-willed. So, while it is not kind, he is quick to judge others by how they react to a horoscope reading.
consider this a sample reply but also a real reply from micah
Soleil has always been a hard believer in facts. In her opinion, taking one's chances with horoscopes — fickle and dubious predictions of the future — is foolish. Stars have no bearing on one's fate. Regardless of which day they were born, people would still end up the exact same way. She does, however, understand the allure. Some people crave security, long to know what is coming for them, and reading horoscopes helps satisfy that senseless urge. And, even though she disagrees with the concept, Soleil bears no grudge against people who think otherwise. After all, even if she bothered to argue with them, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
But, that isn't to say horoscopes don't make for a fun read. Usually after having a few drinks, Soleil would search up her horoscope for the past month, read it, and snicker whenever something she read contradicted what happened in real life.
Owner of @_Home, net cafe located in District 4, seeking to maintain what peace that can be held onto, however long that may last. Currently a stray cat to the other districts.
[attr="class","PlotContentStyle"] Reyna, on a scale of 1 to 10, would be a solid 8 about horoscopes in interest but an 6 in taking it seriously. She knows they aren't exactly things that 100% define people but who doesn't love reading up about it!? It's like the comics section in the newspaper. Her eyes just instantly glide over to them. If the sign looks good then maybe it'll sway her to take a longer detour from work to home than usual and bad, well, she'll get herself cake that day. Be it a good sign or bad, Reyna treats it all fun and games. If the predictions come true, she wouldn't react all shocked like "Oh my god! The stars foretold this!" in a very serious manner...unless she's really enjoying the thought to mock it with a friend.

"I suppose they are an interesting tool, one that should hardly be taken seriously. In my opinion, a very vague and generalized fortune telling is a useless one. As someone with my abilities, it is easy to say that fate can be foretold in detail just as easily as it can be changed. Easily. In the sense that little actions can, perhaps, change the course of one's own timeline. And if a horoscope prediction matches, so what? When a prediction is proven only in hindsight, then what is the point of a prediction? Confirmation bias is very strong if you're not careful. I, personally, have no trouble with whatever other think of such things. But do not involve me or claim to know me simply by saying 'You're a Taurus, you are x and y.'. As if billions of people in the world can be categorized into twelve cookie cutters.
They do make for amusing daily reads and story telling, that's for sure. "
prompt. does your character believe in horoscopes? response. vaan is very distrusting of many and most things so he probably doesn't. however, he keeps his mind open to them possibly being true, at least in certain scenarios. for the most part they're just forms of entertainment that just so happen to be accurate every so often.
To be honest, it's quite impossible to tell whether he believes in them or not. He believes in both Fate, as well as the ability of man to choose his route. It would be best described as he believes everyone has a purpose, but their journey to and from is self devised, and can change the end goal. He reads horoscopes, and when asked his general answer lies somewhere between "They're interesting," and "Who knows." He is vague about the whole thing, but that may be because he doesn't know for sure himself.
